This is what my husband said about this book after reading it.
Put the Seat Down is a great, practical, and insightful book for newly-wed husbands listing how to be the godly husband and leader God wants them to become. Using Scripture, humor, and principles provided in this book, the husband will soon find himself building a strong foundation for his marriage, not only for the first year, but for the years that follow. Some of the those principles include how to understand your wife; how to provide security for her, and how to help the wife settle into her new home with her new husband.
I really liked how Jess encourages husbands to let their wives decorate their old bachelor pads. He could keep things that he really liked, but he also had to get rid of things that really did not matter, or that just took up space. Another principle that was really good was that there needs to be boundaries set by husbands, as the leaders, as to how long to spend time with other people, so that we can spend alone time together as well. Jess also provides some good websites for finding out one's temperament, in order for the husband and wife to find out how to understand one another better.
For the husband that wants to grow in his marriage, this book will help in understanding how to fulfill his duty and provide for his wife, which in turn, will help strengthen his marriage. Put the Seat Down will help give insights to the husband on how to start a happy and healthy marriage. Putting the seat down is one act closer to showing your wife you really love her.
